Associate Studio Programme 11 : Agnes Questionmark

In May we had a studio visit from artist Agnes Questionmark in the Stockwell studio.

Agnes is an artist who like the associates came from UAL and has now gone on to exhibit and perform internationally. This was a really exciting visit for us, getting a chance to talk to someone who has come from the same university as us and gone on to do amazing things.
This visit was made up of a smaller amount of the Associates so we focused on more in depth crit style conversations. This led us to get stuck into smaller details than we would normally which was very useful.
We looked back on previous projects and discussed how we would refine them now. Concentrating on the importance of materials and their sensory qualities. It was great to have Agnes’s advice about performance work from an artist with so much performance experience.

We also discussed filmmaking and the ethics and complications when working with other people’s stories, which raised some important and intriguing questions.

The whole evening was lovely and gave us a chance to get to really examine our own work as well as get to know each other’s work a lot better. Lizzie Allison
