Gemma’s visit was a valuable insight into her multifaceted curatorial career; from writing books to developing cultural strategy and curating exhibitions. We discussed the importance of agency as artists in the curation process, and learned the non-negotiables and values that steer Gemma in her work.
The visit came in the midst of our show ‘Over and out’, marking the end of our time on ASP. We each gave Gemma some context to our work, and discussed the motivations and intentions in our practices. Her questions prompted us to reflect on our time on the ASP, as well think about how we want to position ourselves at this point in our careers. Gem Bryant
