Associate Studio Programme 7: Stockwell 2020

The Associate Studio Programme, in partnership with Acme, opened its first studio in the Glassyard Building, in Stockwell, south west London in 2013.

The tenure of the current, third, group of Associates at the Glassyard studio comes to an end in November 2020. Although this year the corona virus pandemic has had an impact on the schedule applications for the next programme, running from December 2020 to September 2022, are now being invited from 2019 and 2020 graduates from CSM’s BA Fine Art course, and, for the first time, from CCW’s BA Fine Art course.

The Associate Studio Programme provides a supportive environment without simply extending the ‘comfort zone’ of the college experience. The emphasis is on the creation of a mixed but cooperative community of emerging artists, who, at the point of joining the scheme, have already made a commitment to continuing a professional practice. On this basis the scheme provides a very affordable route into a professional studio space in a mutually supportive environment and underpinned by a programme of collective dialogue and mentoring involving professional artists and academics.

The programme offers a space in a new-build, accessible, secure and self-contained ground floor shared open-plan space of around 1,300 sq.ft for a group of ten BA Fine Art graduates. This space is located within Acme’s larger studio development occupied by 30 professional artists and is built to a high specification; with natural light, three meter high ceilings, lighting, power, heating, internet access, shared wash-up and WC facilities and 24-hour access. Tenancy with Acme Studios is for two years, with a subsidised rent set at half the average rate. This brings the rent for each artist down to about approximately £85 per month. The programme includes a programme of studio visits by artists, curators and writers (more details of those visits can be found on this website).

The programme will be open to applications from October 5 2020. To be eligible you must have graduated from BA Fine Art at CSM or CCW in either 2019 or 2020.

Application deadline: 10am Monday 26 October 2020.

There will be a full on-line briefing and Q&A session with Graham Ellard for those interested in applying on Monday 5 October, 2pm, email g.ellard@csm.arts.ac.uk with the subject line – Associate Studio Programme 2020 Meeting – for the link to join the meeting.

Further information and the application form can be downloaded here, from October 5, 2020.
