The recruitment process has now begun for ASP 12; the next group to move into the Elephant & Castle studio, from October 2025 to September 2027.
Applications will soon invited from 2024 and 2025 graduates from CSM, Chelsea and Camberwell’s BA Fine Art courses.
The Associate Studio Programme provides a supportive environment to develop your practice – to make and show art in whatever form – without simply extending the ‘comfort zone’ of the college experience. The emphasis is on the creation of a mixed but cooperative community of emerging artists, who, at the point of joining the scheme, have already made a commitment to continuing a professional practice.
On this basis the ASP provides an affordable route into a professional studio space in a mutually supportive environment and underpinned by a programme of collective dialogue and mentoring involving professional artists and academics.
The programme offers a space in a new-build, accessible, secure and self-contained ground floor shared open-plan space of around 2,400 sq.ft for a group of ten BA Fine Art graduates. This space is located within Acme’s larger studio development occupied by 30 professional artists and is built to a high specification; with natural light, three meter high ceilings, lighting, power, heating, internet access, shared wash-up and WC facilities and 24-hour access. Tenancy with Acme Studios is for two years, with a subsidised rent set at half the average rate. This brings the rent for each artist down to about approximately £120 per month. The programme includes studio visits by artists, curators and writers nominated and directed by Associates (more details of previous visits can be found on this website), along with workshops and other opportunities.
Application deadline: 10am, Monday, 2 June 2025.
There will be a full on-line briefing and Q&A session with Graham Ellard and Alex Clarke for those interested in applying on 29 April, 11am, email asp@arts.ac.uk with the subject line – ASP 12 2025 Final Briefing meeting – for the link to join the meeting.
Further information and the application form will be available here in April – scroll to the bottom of this page.
The ASP is a collaboration between Acme and the research project Double agents, based in the Art Programme, CSM, in partnership with UAL Careers & Employability.
