Developed out of their collaborative project Double agents and Acme Studios have created a ‘transitional’ studio space for recent graduates in the new UAL Hall of Residence; the Glassyard Building, in Stockwell, south west London.
The CSM Associate Studio Programme will provide a supportive environment without simply extending the ‘comfort zone’ of the college experience. The emphasis is on the creation of a mixed but cooperative community of emerging artists, who, at the point of joining the scheme, have already made a commitment to continuing a professional practice. On this basis the scheme will provide a very affordable route into a professional studio space in a mutually supportive environment and underpinned by a programme of collective dialogue and mentoring involving professional artists and academics.
The programme offers access to a new-build, accessible, secure and self-contained ground floor shared open-plan space of around 1,300 sq.ft for a group of eight graduates from BA Fine Art at CSM. This space is located within a larger studio development occupied by 30 Acme professional artists and is built to a high specification; with natural light, three meter high ceilings, lighting, power, heating, internet access, shared wash-up and WC facilities and 24-hour access. Tenancy with Acme Studios is for two years, at half the standard rate – an average weekly rent for each artist of approximately £20 per week. The programme includes monthly studio seminars and studio visits.
The programme is open to applications from current Central Saint Martins BA Fine Art students graduating this year, and those that graduated in 2012.
Application deadline 10am Monday 3 June.
There will be a Q&A session with Graham Ellard for those interested in applying on Monday 13 May, 3pm, at Central Saint Martins, Granary Square, Kings Cross. If you would like to attend you must rsvp by Thursday 10 May to firstname.lastname@example.org, with the subject line – CSM BA Fine Art Recent Graduate Studio Programme.
The 2013 programme runs from 1 October 2013 until September 30 2015.
NB. In 2015 the Stockwell Programme was extended by one year to synchronise it with our second Programme at Elephant and Castle.
THE 2013 ROUND IS NOW CLOSED TO APPLICATIONS. APPLICATIONS FOR THE NEXT ROUND WILL BE INVITED IN SPRING 2016
